Our Churro Cookies combine brown sugar and cinnamon to create a rich and complex flavor in a soft and chewy cookie. This is fun to twist classic Spanish churro donuts but baked up in soft and chewy cookie form and rolled in cinnamon sugar.



Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Step 2

In a large bowl, cream shortening and 1-1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs.

Step 3

In another bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

Step 4

Gradually beat flour into creamed mixture until combined.

Step 5

Shape dough into 1-in. balls; roll in cinnamon sugar. Place 2 in. apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

Step 6

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool.
