Recipe notes:
Adding Peelz Mandarins juice and zest makes the flavor of the entire cake a delicious, sweet mandarin flavor. We substituted the one cup of water from the original recipe on the Food Club Yellow Cake Mix with ½ cup water and ½ cup Peelz Mandarins juice and zest. If you prefer a milder flavor, decrease the juice and increase the water. If you prefer a stronger mandarin flavor, increase the juice and decrease the water. The total liquid count should equal 1 cup.
Leave the peel on the mandarins for a delicious candied peel. The brown sugar and butter works together to caramelize the mandarins for an amazing candied peel.
The mandarins are placed in a single layer, in a circular pattern over the brown sugar and melted butter. The mandarins shrink when baked so if you prefer more mandarins on top, simply overlap the mandarins from the beginning.
Serve at room temperature, with or without a dusting of confectioner’s sugar.
