Norton Acme Fresh Market presents Caroline’s Cart

NORTON — According to company officials, Acme Fresh Market is the first company in Ohio to purchase one of Caroline’s Carts.

The cart is designed specifically for parents of special needs children. Caroline’s Cart faces the child toward his or her parent at all times. The seat (weight limit of 250 pounds) also has a small recline to help with children who have low muscle tone. The handles swing open, and the floor brake engages to allow a convenient load and unload situation. It also has a five-point safety harness that is adjustable.

Acme, Heritage Crossing project moving forward

Green, Ohio — A long-awaited project is finally about to move forward after a several month delay. Green City Council recently approved the final plan for Heritage Crossing, which will be constructed along Massillon Road.

“We are trying to get into a position to begin site grading and infrastructure work so that the Acme Fresh Market building can be under roof before winter weather,” said Jim Nilsen president of Albrecht Incorporated.

Acme Fresh Market will bring 215 jobs and anchor $25 million Heritage Crossings of Green development in 2014

GREEN, Ohio — Family-owned Acme Fresh Market will break ground for its 16th grocery store on Aug. 21 at a $25 million retail development in the City of Green, in southern Summit County.

The 77,600-square-foot supermarket, scheduled to open in July 2014, will anchor what will be called Heritage Crossings of Green, on about 16 acres of former farmland at the northeast corner of Massillon and Graybill Roads. It will be Acme’s first store in Green and the city’s second supermarket after nearby Giant Eagle.

Acme Fresh Market’s Growlette Catching On With Beer Drinkers

Jon Albrecht noticed a disturbing trend when Acme Fresh Markets starting offering draft beer at its grocery stores. Some customers would bring back their 64-ounce growlers for a refill, but they hadn’t finished all the beer from the previous batch. The reusable glass jugs proved too big for a few folks and some beer had to be dumped. “We don’t want anybody to waste beer. That’s a sin,” said Albrecht, the beer buyer for the Akron-based chain.

Acme Fresh Market Donates To Area Humane Societies

Wishing Well Program — Acme Fresh Market collected just under $16,000 in its 2012 program that was donated to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, Stark County Humane Society, Portage County Animal Protective League and the Parma Animal Shelter. The amount, collected when customers drop spare change into a wishing well, is a 37 percent increase over 2011.

Designer Reusable Grocery Bags

Akron artist Don Drumm has designed a series of reusable grocery bags exclusive to Acme Fresh Market. A huge hit with customers, the first in the series sold out in about three hours. More are on the way along with a brightly colored holiday bag. Acme marked the release of the first bag with a $1,500 donation to the Akron Area Arts Alliance.
